We are from Colombia and AREPAS are our primary food made with maize. White corn is an important part of our heritage. Once we moved to New Zealand, it was impossible to find it. Wheat bread was not an option since it is not gluten-free.  That was the motivation to start researching and developing the product that today we proudly call the starting point of an amazing adventure. 
In the meantime, we connected with people from Colombia, Venezuela, and other countries, as well as, people with dietary restrictions (people with coeliac disease, vegans). We found that they had the same issue: Tasty wheat bread substitutes were difficult to find. For this reason, we decided to help others and showcase the culinary benefit of AREPAS. Our satisfied customers from these communities and others, inspire us to grow and define the mission of La Chiva Limited.
